A refresher course on Panoramic Radiography: From radiation safety and protection to diagnosis and errors

Panoramic Radiology is the most popular dental imaging modality, especially in Orthodontics. This is because of the fact that all areas of interest including a large portion of the head and neck, are viewed in one image. However, it is rather complex as far as it concerns technique and quite sensitive in patient positioning errors.
In this presentation we will address the parameters affecting the image quality of panoramic radiography as well as the effects of positioning errors in the final radiograph. In our discussion, we will include the risks form radiation in children since they are the majority of the orthodontic patients.
